Book Description:
KILLER COMPETITION;
A champion ski jumper, Nick Walsh wants one thing: to win the gold for his late brother. Nick has always blamed himself for his family's tragic loss and so does everyone else. To complicate things, sweet and shy reporter Julie Frost insists on doing a story about him. But as Nick gets closer to achieving his dream, someone will do anything to stop him. Somehow, Nick must keep Julie from getting too close as they confront a threat that can destroy them both. Julie and Nick are on the verge of discovering the truth about his brother's death unless an unknown murderer finds them first.
My Thoughts:
This was a good one. Julie was always the quiet 'nerdy' girl with glasses in school. Nick was always the good looking and talented athlete. Now, she is a budding reporter and he is a ski jumper who doesn't want to be interviewed. The media tore his younger brother apart when he died. Claiming he was on drugs, and all sorts of other things. Nick has no desire to be put in that position, but Julie needs his help. Add to it, someone is trying to kill him and he may be finding out more about his brother's death than he'd ever imagined.
I liked Julie. She was so spunky and mostly unsure of herself but determined. She knew she had worked hard for her chance. Nick was still hurting so bad because of his brother's death. It was so sad. He blames himself because his brother was trying a move that was just beyond him. With someone trying to kill him, Nick doesn't want to put anyone else in danger. He is sure his parents blame him for his brother's death, he does and knows others must too. I liked that he wasn't sure of Julie and she wasn't sure of him, it was very realistic as to what happens in real life. Overall, I loved the characters and the plot.
I rate this a 4/5. It was a good winter read!
