Book Description:
As the third daughter of a third daughter, dragon-shifter Christine Drachen must mate with a human. Not all human males are genetically compatible with dragon shifters, and suitable matches are rare in old Charleston. Christine, though, has identified James to be an appropriate match. Even humans who acknowledge the possibility of dragons cannot believe that one can be both a dragon and a human, shifting between the two. As a result, Christine must attract James without fully revealing her true, shifting nature until they have committed to mate. Christine shows James the gold dragon she always wears around her neck. He notices the prints, statues, and tapestries of dragons that decorate her family's home. Strange noises emanate from behind the Drachens' house during a party, and James believes he actually sees a dragon, one wearing a necklace like Christine's. Christine's last name, Drachen, means "dragon," and, while she jokes her entire family is composed of the creatures, James begins to suspect there is more to what she says than a simple attempt at humor. Finally, he sees her shift. To protect their species from persecution, dragon-shifters silence any human who sees one of them shift, and the most practical method is generally death. The rule is absolute. But Christine has fallen in love with James. How can she protect her family without killing the boy she loves?Dragon Mist is a story of boy-meets-girl, with a few non-human characters, high stakes, a bit of magic, a little humor, and an abundance of romance.
My Thoughts:
This was an interesting read. It absolutely caught my attention at the start and then kept it. I wasn't expecting the bang it started off with but it was very effective. The story had a mix of fantasy, romance, suspense and paranormal elements. I liked Christine. She is finding herself and is powerful.
They have a rule that any human who sees them shift into dragon form has to be silenced. That becomes an issue when she falls for a human and he sees her shift. I enjoyed the entire story and thought the author was really creative. It will stay on my keeper shelf as a 'anti-typical' boy meets girl story!
It was a 4/5 for me.

The Goddess Gets Her Guy by Ashlyn Chase
Description
What happens when the goddess meets Mr. Right...but she absolutely can't tell him who she really is?
After leaving his job as a cardiac surgeon, Dr. Aaron Samuels needs a new purpose in his life. Wanting to help his patients even if he can't operate, he heads to the Puerto Rican rainforest to find a cure for heart disease. He never imagined he'd meet a beautiful, mysterious woman, especially not one talking to a frog in the middle of the jungle...
Gaia—a.k.a. Mother Nature—has had it with paranormals breaking her number one rule: Never reveal your supernatural powers to humans, not even your mate. Fed up, she transports to the rainforest, happy to converse with amphibians who don't talk back. But Dr. Samuels is a much better conversationalist, and Gaia can't wait to help him mend all those broken hearts he told her about.
When her attempts to help only complicate things between them, Gaia begins to wonder what would happen if she opened her heart and was honest with Aaron...and herself. Maybe her number one rule has been wrong all along...
My Thoughts:
This was an interesting one. Gaia has been the supreme being in all the books I've read by Ashlyn Chase. This book is how Gaia gets her guy. I have to admit it was quite funny to see Fate and Karma at work in different ways. It was really good to catch up with past characters to see what was new with them. I still adore the phoenix mother and how she dotes on all her kids.
Aaron was an intriguing choice for the goddess to make for a friend and confidant. Their meeting was quite amusing and I really thought they had a good connection. I think the goddess came across more as a power hungry spoiled brat, but then again that is why her sisters were trying to bring her down a peg or two. It was a quick read that was entertaining.
3/5 for me.

Wolf Rebel by Paige Tyler
Description
She let him get away
SWAT werewolf Rachel Bennett is hounded by nightmares after a vicious attack left her with PTSD. Not knowing who or what she can trust anymore, she's relieved to be assigned to a high-profile protective detail. Diving into work might be the distraction she needs, until she notices the mysterious hunk who seems to follow her wherever she goes—and recognizes him.
Now he needs her help...
After he's badly injured, former Navy SEAL Knox Lawson seeks out Rachel when he realizes he's turning into a werewolf. He'd once been part of the group hunting her kind, but he knew he had to quit when he found Rachel in his crosshairs. Now he desperately needs her help.
Rachel isn't sure she trusts Knox, but having him around keeps the nightmares—and the monster creating them—away. Knox might not know much about being a werewolf, but there's no doubt he'll do everything in his power to win her trust and keep her safe.
My Thoughts:
I've been waiting for this book since I read the last one. I had to know why Rachel let the hunter get away. This one didn't disappoint. Rachel and Knox meeting for the first (actually speaking) time was entertaining. The twist of Rachel's nightmares that we learned about a few books ago caught me off guard and I was amazed by the author's creativity there.
The hunter turning into what he was hunting is poetic. That answered the question I've had for a while. I really liked the DA's little girl and how the author threw in some family issues that had to be worked through. There were a couple of twists that I didn't expect at all and that made the read even better. Overall it was a great addition to this series.
It was a 4/5 for me and I can't wait for more of these Dallas shifters!

Marked for Revenge by Valerie Hansen
Description
He had a price on his head—and no one to trust
An Emergency Responders thriller
EMT Kaitlin North can’t believe the shooting victim at an isolated Ozark cabin is the man who once saved her life. Now the only way she can keep undercover police officer Daniel Ryan alive is to help him elude the hitmen on his trail. With danger closing in, can Kaitlin and Ryan trust each other’s instincts…and take a chance on love?
My Thoughts:
This was an interesting book from start to finish. Kaitlin is one of the EMTs that go out on a call to a cabin where a man has been shot. She doesn't recognize him on sight but he remembers her. Daniel is hiding after a case he had worked went sideways and he isn't sure who on the police force he can trust any longer.
I liked the characters and how the author wove a past story in with the one unfolding in front of us. The story was a bit stretched for me but it flowed well and the author did a good job of keeping the action going. Danile and Kaitlin's romance is unique as they are so different. She is completely impulsive and he is in control. It was an interesting mix.
Overall, it was a 3/5 for me.

My Thoughts:
This is a unique book. The Amish twist on romantic suspense was a nice change for me and I truly enjoyed it. Lizzy is determined to be more 'forceful' in her life so she feels more in control. While on the way to help her cousin, her driver is murdered and Lizzy is the only witness.
I thought it was intriguing the way the author wound Isaac's story in along here. It was truly ingenious to have a former Amish man, now police officer, be the one who has the main job of protecting her. There are several twists and turns throughout the story and I enjoyed the ride! The ending was great. I love that the author focuses that God needs to be the center and not to center your life around people/a person.
Overall it was a good read 4/5.

And as her pretend husband, Lee must keep Audrey safe…or pay twice the deadly price.
My Thoughts:
It has to be a shock finding out you are a twin when you had no clue, but how Audrey finds out is exceptionally shocking. She doesn't just have a twin, she has a kick butt FBI agent twin sister. Not to mention that sister is partnered with a hot FBI agent in an undercover mission that Audrey must take over if there is any chance at success.
I loved that Lee had never considered his partner at all in the way that he instantly viewed Audrey. They looked identical and yet his was romantically drawn to one and not the other. Their mission was a wild ride and I enjoyed it all.
It was a 4/5 for me. I want to know what happens next with her sister!

Justice Seekers
My Thoughts:
Wow, this was a thought provoking and good book. Hawk isn't the man his wife remembers him to be because, well, he doesn't remember that man. I cannot imagine how horrible and scary that must be to wake up and not remember anything. Jillian's dedication to her husband, even when isn't the man she remembers was touching.
There are some really tense moments and I loved seeing characters from previous books. Their daughter is precious and it was sweet watching the father/daughter bond happen. The author really did a good job with this one and it was touching!
4/5 for me. I truly enjoyed it from start to finish.
