Book Description:
Former pararescue jumper Orion Starr is haunted by the memory of a rescue gone wrong. He may be living alone in Alaska now, but the pain of his failure--and his injuries--has followed him there from Afghanistan. He has no desire to join Hamilton Jones's elite rescue team, but he also can't shirk his duty when the call comes in to rescue three lost climbers on Denali.
Former CIA profiler and psychiatrist Jenny Calhoun's yearly extreme challenge with her best friends is her only escape from the guilt that has sunk its claws into her. As a consultant during a top-secret mission to root out the Taliban, she green-lighted an operation that ended in ambush and lives lost. When her cathartic climb on Denali turns deadly, she'll be forced to trust her life and the lives of her friends to the most dangerous of heroes--the man she nearly killed.
Her skills and his experience are exactly what's needed to prevent another tragedy--but in order to truly set Orion free from his painful past, Jenny will have to reveal hers. They'll have to put their wounds behind them to survive, but at what cost?
Leap into action with this high-octane, breakneck new series from bestselling author Susan May Warren.
My Thoughts:
I was so excited to get a copy of this book that I started it and didn't stop. The author pulls you in from the very start and simply doesn't let go. Jenny and Orion are both wonderfully flawed characters that were amazing to read about. This one was full of suspense and I honestly had no desire to put it down.
Jenny and Orion's romance (while I was expecting it) felt a bit off and I'm not certain why. Still, I loved the twists and turns the story line took and the wonderful new characters I got to meet. I honestly cannot wait until the next book in the series!
Absolutely a 5/5 for me.

Collateral Damage by Lynette Eason
Book Description:
Honorably discharged from the Army after an explosion nearly killed her, former military psychiatrist Brooke Adams has set up shop to help others--but her days of helping military personnel are over. She's got her own battles to fight from her time overseas, and she's not equipped to take on more. Former Army Special Ops Sergeant First Class Asher James could handle anything that war sent his way--terrorists, bombs, bullets. The only thing that scares him now is sleep. As the shadows close in, the nightmares begin.
Finally convinced that he needs help, Asher makes an appointment with a counselor, and Brooke is pressed by her boss to take him on. When he arrives at her office she isn't there--but a dead body is. Brooke is devastated when she walks in, and Asher is a conveniently strong shoulder to cry on. But she can't take him on as a client after sharing such an intimate and unprofessional moment, can she? And he's not sure he can handle sharing his deepest fears with such a beautiful woman.
When it becomes clear that Brooke was the real target of the attack--and that her secrets go even deeper than his own--Asher vows to protect her no matter what.
Bestselling author Lynette Eason is back with a new series that spans the globe and will have your heart working overtime.
My Thoughts:
I love Lynette Eason's books and this one was fabulous! Brooke and Asher are both army veterans. Brooke is a psychiatrist but has her own issues from her time overseas. Asher has his issues as well. Ms. Eason wove such a wonderful story here full of twists and turns that I couldn't put it down.
I loved how faith was woven into such a suspenseful story. This was the perfect start to a new series. The cast of characters she brought together in this book makes me look forward to what comes next in this series.
It was a 5/5 for me and I cannot wait until the next book.

Initiation by Heather Renee
Book Description:
Being sent to prison just after my eighteenth birthday wasn’t exactly what I had in mind after getting my first taste of freedom. Neither was ending up in cell block B with all male prisoners. There had to be some sort of mixup, right? Wrong.
After a too-close-for-comfort attack, I’m taken in by the Fabled Four—a group of guys who don’t play by the rules and are prisoners here just like me. The only difference is they know what the warden wants from them and I have no idea.
Much to their leader’s dismay, it’s time to figure out the real reason I’m stuck in Mandora Supernatural Prison. Though, if I can’t learn to play by the rules in this twisted world, I just might get myself, or others I care about, killed.
Let the games begin.
*Please note, this is not a Reverse Harem book and recommended for ages 16+ due to language*
My Thoughts:
I need the next book in this series now! I always love this author's books, but this one dragged me in and had me devouring it from start to finish as fast as I could. Cara is just awesome. I love that she is a strong female, even if she is confused as can be.
The FF are completely drool worthy. The end of the blurb says it isn't a RH, but it is perfectly set up for one! I'm not sure which of the guys is better suited for her. I love the dialogue and snappy comebacks throughout. Overall, it is a great read that I couldn't put down.
It was a 5/5 for me. I'm waiting impatiently for the next one.

Deadly Intentions by Lisa Harris
Book Description
Research scientist Caitlyn Lindsey is convinced that someone is taking out her team one by one. First, a friend and research partner was killed in a home invasion. Three months ago, her boss died in a suspicious car accident. Four days ago, another partner supposedly committed suicide. And now Caitlyn herself has miraculously survived a hit-and-run. Afraid for her life with nowhere to turn, she reaches out to one of the victim's husbands, Detective Josh Solomon.
Though initially skeptical about Caitlyn's theory, Josh soon realizes that the attack that took his wife's life was anything but random. Now the two of them must discover the truth about who is after Caitlyn's team--and what their end game is--before it's too late.
In this nail-biting thriller, award-winning author Lisa Harris will have you believing that there's no such thing as random.
My Thoughts:
This book started out with action and heartbreak, but I had trouble getting into it after that. I think the author did a fabulous job tackling several hard issues: the loss of a spouse/friend, work expectations, betrayal, and more. There were twists and turns throughout the plot that I flat out didn't see coming. The author is immensely fabulous in her plot and doing the unexpected.
I think my issue was not relating to the characters very well. I connected with Josh but not Caitlyn. That being said, I still immensely enjoyed the book and will read future books by Ms. Harris as she is one of my authors to watch for!
Overall it was a 4/5 for me.

Dragon Ghosts (Unwanteds Quests) by Lisa McMann Audiobook
Book Description:
Ten years after Alex and Aaron Stowe brought peace to Quill and Artimé, their younger twin sisters journey beyond Artimé in the third novel in the New York Times bestselling sequel series to The Unwanteds.
Devastated by loss and hampered by war, Fifer struggles to regroup and continue the search for her twin. Meanwhile Thisbe, pounded by images of Grimere’s dark history, contemplates her abandonment and considers leaving Rohan behind in a risky move that could take her home…or to her death.
My Thoughts:
We have had a great time continuing this series on audiobook. The kids all still love it and most of the characters we've grown to love make an appearance though out the book. There is still lingering heartbreak from previous book events. We do adore a lot of the new characters we've met. I really like the ghost dragons. The kids like Thisbe and Fifer. I'm enjoying the way the author doesn't take the safe route and goes all out with her writing. Can't wait for the next one.
It was a 5/5 for us.
