Book Description:
Shauni Miller has no idea why her life is changing, but she must answer when an unknown force summons her to a mystical island. She also harbors a secret, one that has the potential to alter her life forever. Dr. Michael Black helps Shauni in her time of need, but sees more in the raven-haired temptress than she ever meant to reveal. He knows she's hiding something, but then, so is he. Only the fates know what role they will play in a centuries-old prophecy. Or if one of them has to die.
My Thoughts:
This book was good! Nine women are 'called' to Savannah, Georgia where they learn about each other and themselves and as it turns out they are witches. Together they make up a coven that has been awaited for centuries. This is the first book in the series and focuses on Shauni. She has a gift that she rarely tells anyone about, as do each of the others that are called to the island. Shauni meets Michael Black, a vet, in Savannah and they are immediately attracted to each other. He knows she isn't telling him everything but he has his own secrets to keep! She has much to learn and experience if she is to help save the world from evil.
The visual descriptions in this book are amazing. All the characters are completely unique and I loved how some of the coven were surprised by the proclamation of what they were and others just accepted it like it was expected. Shauni's gift intrigued me from the start, talking to animals is so cool! Dr. Black has had his own issues but he is immediately attracted to Shauni when she brings in a puppy to his vet office. The mix of good and evil characters is wonderful. Thankfully this is just the first in the series and I hope to read the second one soon!
I rate this book a 5/5. If you like paranormal or fantasy you will enjoy this book. I'm ready for the next one.
