Solitary by Travis Thrasher

Book Description:
The first book in the Solitary Tales suspense series from Travis Trasher reminds teen readers that darkness cloaks both danger and redemption. When Chris Buckley moves to Solitary, North Carolina, he faces the reality of his parents' divorce, a school full of nameless faces - and the mysterious Jocelyn Evans. Chris soon learns that Jocelyn and her town have deep - and terrifying - secrets. Solitary will take readers from the cold halls of high school to the dark rooms of the an abandoned cabin - and remind us of what it means to believe in what you cannot see. In his debut novel for teens, Travis Thrasher furthers his reputation of having the writing ability to scare the wits out of his audience while challenging them.

My Thoughts:
Holy cow! I'm not sure if I'm in love with this book or terrified of it! Chris and his mom move to Solitary, North Carolina after his parent's divorce and everything there is just weird. Chris feels out of place and it seems like everyone but him is in on a big 'secret'. He is attracted to Jocelyn, but she pushes him away. The big question is what is the big secret the town is trying to keep hidden.
I wasn't expecting this book to be so intense. It starts on page one and then before you realize it, you have read the whole book! The story line is wonderful, the imagery great, and the main character artfully written. I got creeped out by the town and how deep and dark the secret is. The twists are unexpected and it brings you down only to remind you that there is hope. I love that it is written from Chris' perspective. I want to say so much about it but I can't give away the story line! The ending was quite a surprise though....
This book is a 4/5. It is supposed to be for young adults but I think adults will enjoy it as well. Definitely makes you think! Am ready to read book 2 in this new series.

Thanks to B&B for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
