Dark Descendant by Jenna Black

Book Description:
Nikki Glass thinks of herself as an ordinary person, although her skills as a private investigator sometimes verge on the uncanny. But whatever Nikki might think of herself, she is far from ordinary, as she discovers one life-altering night when she loses control of her car on an icy road, accidentally killing a man who appears out of nowhere. The man Nikki struck with her car was an immortal who wanted to die -- and she has now inadvertently stolen his immortality. As a descendant of the Greek goddess Artemis, Nikki’s talents have reached supernatural proportions. Of course, before she was an immortal, there wasn’t anyone who wanted her dead .

My Thoughts:
This was a pretty good book. Nikki is a PI who is on a horrible date when a client calls needing help. She practically jumps at the easy out of the date and drives to meet him. Along the way, a man steps in front of her car and the crash is horrible, but not as bad as after! She is bleeding and hurting when three men she knows from surveillance show up and knock her out. When she comes to, she is told the man killed was an immortal and now she has his immortality...oh and there is a group that will do whatever it takes to have her!
I liked Nikki. She acted exactly how any normal human being would given the circumstances and the Liberi just seemed annoyed by her. There are sons and daughters of gods, gods, major conflict, and suspense everywhere. I loved all the characters, though some of the scenes were a bit 'shocking' they fit in perfectly with how the author was telling the story. I am ready for the next in this series.
4/5. Definitely a good fantasy read with some serious dark parts!
