Author Interview with Sarah Makela!!!

AW: Tell us about yourself…
SM: I write New Adult and adult Paranormal Romance. I love traveling, playing video games and watching movies with my husband, and reading. That last one goes without saying! I also am a definite cat lover.

AW: What generally do you write and why?
SM: I general New Adult Paranormal Romance as well as adult Paranormal Romance. I’ve also written cyberpunk romance and urban fantasy. I love trying new things, but I think I’ve really found my passion in New Adult Paranormal Romance. I’m a twenty something, so it speaks to me because the heroes and heroines are still figuring out where they’re headed in life, and I can relate.

SM: The Witch Who Cried Wolf is about a witch, Mia, hiding from werewolves she didn’t know existed. When Ethan, her brother’s best friend (and crush), comes home from deployment for the holidays, the emotions she’s suppressed boil to the surface. Ethan’s view of the supernatural shifts when Mia and Ethan are attacked by a werewolf, but his feelings for Mia intensify to the point where he can no longer hide them.

AW: What was your inspiration for this book?
SM: My initial inspiration for the book was having Mia, a witch, who has an All-American family that she doesn’t fit in with. The hero, on the other hand, is more a part of the bunch than she is with her own family. I also liked the idea of the werewolves being the bad guy since they’re usually the strong, alpha heroes.

AW: Do you have a favorite character and why that one?
SM: This is tough because I love almost all of the characters in the book. However, if I had to choose one, I’d go with Ethan because he’s really tough and a man’s man, but he’s also caring and willing to stand up for Mia.

AW: Did you find anything particularly difficult in writing this book?
SM: I had to do a decent amount of research on a few subjects like potions and the Army to make sure I had my facts straight. I wanted to do the characters justice and be true to them.

AW: What project(s) are you currently working on?
SM: I’m working on the second Cry Wolf book and writing a cyberpunk romance novella called Digital Slave to round out my Hacked Investigations series.

AW: Do you have any interesting writing quirks you want to tell us about?
SM: Hmm... I guess a quirk is that while I’ve written a lot of my books without much in the way of an outline, I’m beginning to change my ways. I find myself wanting that plan before I get too deep into the book.

AW: Do you have any advice for writers out there?
SM: Don’t give up! Also, if you’re writing, and it doesn’t make you happy, maybe try a different genre. It took time for me to figure out my best fit.

AW: Where can we find you?

AW: And of course we have to know, where can we find your book?
