Beg for Mercy by Jami Alden

Book Description:
He lurks in the shadows, waiting and watching . . . And once he has you, all you can do is. . . — BEG FOR MERCY — Megan Flynn thought she was falling in love. Cole Williams wasn't just handsome and passionate, he was one of the good guys. Or so she thought, until he arrested her brother -- the only family she has left -- for a murder she knows he couldn't have possibly committed. Now, with her heart broken and her brother's life hanging in the balance, Megan will risk everything to prove his innocence. Even if that means throwing herself into the path of a sadistic killer with a hauntingly familiar MO.
Seattle Detective Cole Williams had given up on making Megan see reason where her brother is concerned. But when she insinuates herself into the most shockingly brutal case Cole has ever worked, he can't stand idly by. Plunged into a secret world where the city's elite indulge their darkest desires, Cole will do whatever it takes to bring down a madman who has made Megan his most coveted prey.
My Thoughts:
I very much enjoyed this book. Megan's brother Sean is awaiting lethal injection for a murder Megan knows he didn't commit. Cole is Megan's old flame, who just happened to be the one who arrested her brother for murder. Now, a new series of murders has Cole wondering if he was right about Sean and Megan convinced she can exonerate her brother. Only, it seems that Megan may have been the target all along!
I loved how committed Megan was to her brother. The author did a wonderful job of showing how the two of them only have each other and clung together. Cole is surprised when he and Megan run into each other again at how bad he has it for her. I like how the author didn't just magically let the two of them fall together but they actually had to work for it. All the while, they are racing against time to figure out who the serial killer is and the clues they find may or may not really be pointing them in the right direction.
I rate this a 4/5. It has plenty of suspense and twists to keep you interested.
Thank you to Hachette for the review copy of this book. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.
