Emily's Heart by Natalie Wright

Emily's Heart
Book Description:
**The long-awaited final book in this popular magickal, action-packed teen series! Seventeen-year-old Emily Adams unintentionally unleashed a shadow god's dark energy power into the world and started an Apocalypse. But Emily is also the only one that can end the dark god's reign. Though the powerful faerie magic of the golden torc is still coiled around her arm, self-doubt threatens to undo her. Emily wants nothing more than to feel the soft kiss of her one true love, but he won't even speak to her. Her first crush is still quite dead and her best friend remains a prisoner in the dark god's house of nightmares. A growing legion of black-eyed shadow people, devoid of conscience, roam the streets. Emily needs help now more than ever, but redemption seems far off indeed as she faces the expanding darkness alone. Emily will need an army of her own if she is to save the world from being taken over by pure evil. But will a small band of Lucent geeks and freaks be enough to send the dark god packing? Amidst chaos and ruin, will love blossom in Emily's Heart?

My Thoughts:
Great conclusion to a really good series!  Emily is all alone.  The Apocalypse has begun and people are turning to the darkness.  Their souls are lost.  Only Emily can end the darkness but she needs help and she has to overcome her doubts.  She needs an army to help her, but has a small group of Lucents to help her.  Will it be enough?  Add to all that pressure and the guy she loves is still not speaking to her and she has to save her best friend.
I still love Emily.  She has grown and changed through this series and I like where the author has taken her.  It isn't all fun and roses, but deep, heavy issues that she hast to deal with that make her mature and take responsibilities.  Jake, I wanted to be annoyed with him, but he does still love Emily and helps her.  The story flows quickly and there is no stopping reading once you start....you will have to read to the end to know what happens!
I rate this a 4/5.  The series was good and this book wrapped it up quite nicely!
Thank you to the author for the review copy of this book.  I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

  1. This sounds like a good book, but I think I would have to read the other ones in the series first, though :)

    1. I recommend people at least read book 2 first as Book 3 continues the plot from book 2. Book 1 I think adds to the second two books, but it is not necessary to read it first to get what's going on in the other 2.
      Thanks for stopping by :-)

  2. Nice review but I agree with Masshole Mommy--this definitely sounds like a series that should be read in order. Although this is not my usual genre I will go to Amazon and see if I can read a chapter or tw-hey you never know-I might really enjoy it!

    1. Book 1 of the series, Emily's House, is perfect for middle school! My 9-13 year old readers love Emily's House :-) It's a fun adventure quest with magic and mythical elements. In Books 2 & 3, she matures as the series goes on and there are more romance elements in the second two books, so I think 13+ on Books 2 & 3.
      Thanks for stopping by :-)

    1. Thanks for stopping by and checking out my series. This fantasy series starts with a tween/middle grade book (Emily's House) that is a fantasy adventure quest with lots of action. Books 2 and 3 see Emily age and mature as she takes on more and more responsibility and grows and matures.

  16. I would have to read the others to really get into the book. I don't like starting at the end. :) Sounds like a good read and it's good to know a bit about the end of the series as well.
