All her life, Breena had always dreamed about fairies as though she lived among them...beautiful fairies living among mortals and living in Feyland.
In her dreams, he was always there the breathtakingly handsome but dangerous Winter Prince, Kian, who is her intended. When Breena turns sixteen, she begins seeing fairies and other creatures mortals don't see. Her best friend Logan suddenly acts very protective.
Then she sees Kian, who seems intent on finding her and carrying her off to Feyland. That's fine and all, but for the fact that humans rarely survive a trip to Feyland, a kiss from a fairy generally means death to the human unless that human has fairy blood in them or is very strong, and although Kian seemed to be her intended, he seems to hate her and wants her dead.
My Thoughts:
This was a wonderful adventure. Breena has always been a bit out of step with everyone except her best friend Logan. She's dreamed of Feyland and of learning a dance with her intended. Kian is his name and it is all just a dream, right? That is what she thought until she turned 16 and everything changed!
The author does a wonderful job painting pictures with words. I loved my journey into Feyland and meeting all the characters there. Breena is wonderful and does an amazing job consiering the circumstances she is thrown into. Kian, I wasn't sure I was going to like and now absolutely love. I can't wait to see what happens to them next!
I rate this a 5/5. It is a great start of the series!

When We Collide by A.L. Jackson
Book Description:
From the bestselling author of Pulled and Take This Regret comes a gripping new tale of loss and love.
William has spent six years running from his past and the last eight months trying to rid his mind of the dreams that increasingly haunt his nights. Trapped in a world of false ambitions and feigned affections, William knows he’s reached a breaking point and something’s going to give.
Maggie had lived her entire life without hope until one man showed her what it meant to be loved. He’d been her light in a lifetime of darkness. Six years ago, that darkness stole him away. Without him, she’s surrendered herself to an existence she doesn’t know how to escape.
When the family William left behind is struck by tragedy, he is called back to the one place he’s sworn to never return to again.
In a moment that will change his life forever, William comes face to face with the girl who, with one look, captured his heart. He is unable to ignore the buried desires and the hope for the future they’d once believed they’d have.
Now William is ready to fight to take back what had been stolen from him six years before.
But he never imagined what that fight might cost him.
A.L. Jackson gives you an intimate look into the lives of a family bound by an unseen connection in this contemporary romance with a supernatural twist.
My Thoughts:
This was an interesting book. William left his family and everything behind when he left six years earlier. He is now called home because of an emergency and finding more than he'd ever imagined. Maggie has been living a terrible life and now that William is back, she is both terrified and elated.
The characters were so wonderfully messed up that you rooted for the story to unfold easy for them. William's whole family was wonderfully forgiving even if it takes them a while. Maggie has issues that started long before William even entered her life. Now her life has gotten exceptionally more complicated and she is terrified what all the implications mean.
I rate this a 4/5. It was a true love story with a twist or two.

Treason by SM Boyce
Book Description:Ourea has always been a deadly place. The lichgates tying the hidden world to Earth keep its creatures at bay—for now.
Kara Magari ignited a war when she stumbled into Ourea and found the Grimoire: a powerful artifact filled with secrets. To protect the one person she has left, she strikes a deal that goes against everything she believes in. But things don’t go as planned.
Braeden Drakonin can no longer run from who—and what—he is. He has to face the facts. He’s a prince. He’s a murderer. He’s a wanted man. And after a betrayal that leaves him heartbroken, he’s out for blood.
To survive, both Kara and Braeden must become the evil each has grown to hate.
My Thoughts:
I am completely loving this series. This book picks up right where the first one leaves off and takes our characters 'deeper'. Kara and Braeden both have difficult and big decisions to make. Ourea is still a dangerous place full of surprises.
The characters are evolving as the series continues. Kara is still sassy and determined but she is also maturing. Braeden I'm growing to love more and more. The plot twists kept me guessing and surprised. I absolutely adore this world, Ourea, the author has created and want to know so much more about it!
I rate this a high 4/5. If you've read the first one, it is a must read but if not, pick up the first one then move on to this one! I can't wait to read the 3rd one!!

Emily's Trial by Natalie Wright
Two years ago, Emily's journey began. She learned the ancient magic of her Celtic ancestors, and became a modern Celtic Priestess. The golden torc, forged by faerie hands, is still wound around her arm, fused to her soul. She was entrusted with powerful magic - secret knowledge.
But even a Priestess can feel desire - temptation - and the quest for love. Will passion entice Emily to use her sacred magic in a forbidden way? Can new love take root in a world of nightmares? And will her friendships survive Emily's Trial?
The Journey Continues . . .
My Thoughts:
Really enjoying this series! Emily's journey is continuing from the first book Emily's Home and it is an awesome one! She is now a Celtic Priestess and has awesome powers. Her friends are still there for her but no one knows what will happen along the way!
I love the way the author develops and 'grows' her characters in these books. The storyline is good and I won't say much more about it because I don't want to give anything away from Emily's Home. She is tempted and tried and grows a lot! The author uses great imagery and you feel like you are there with the characters and feel/see/hear everything along with them. I can't wait to see where the author takes this next! I rate this a 5/5. I completely enjoyed it! Definately read Emily's Home first and 'meet' the characters so you can watch them evolve!

Betrayal on the Border by Jill Elizabeth Nelson
Book Description:Former army communications specialist Maddie Jerrard may not remember the details of the deadly mission on the Texas-Mexico border, but she knows one thing. She's not responsible for the massive ambush that left only her and investigative journalist Chris Mason alive. Yet with suspicion—and danger—targeting Maddie and Chris, and a killer on their trail, partnering up is the only solution. But as Maddie and Chris get closer to uncovering the truth, they'll have to trust each other to make it through alive.
My Thoughts:
Loved it! Maddie is on the run. She is a former army specialist whose whole unit got ambushed and killed on the Mexican border. Only she and Chris, a famous reporter survived. Since leaving the hospital after her recovery someone has tried to kill her multiple times and she can't even remember what happened that night! She knows she didn't betray her unit and country so it had to be Chris...right?
I felt so bad for Maddie. She is strong, tough, and completely alone. She is wonderfully trained thanks to the military and she has had to call upon them to stay alive. Chris is a strong, steady man whose determination to find the truth makes Maddie want to trust him but she just can't risk it. I liked the fact faith was not shattered but shaken in this book. Woven through the story it fits and isn't forced. Plenty of suspense and a spark or two of romance!!
A definite 5/5. I'm keeping this one!

Barefoot in the Rain by Roxie St. Claire
Book Description:A Barefoot Bay Novel
They say you can never go home again . . .
When "Life Coach to the Stars" Jocelyn Bloom is embroiled in scandal, the only place she can hide is the one place she wishes she could forget. She left Barefoot Bay-and the boy next door who knew all her secrets-years ago. Now nothing about the tiny island off the coast of Florida is quite how she remembers it, especially Will Palmer. He's even more gorgeous and tempting . . . and still capable of turning her world inside out.
But what if someone is waiting for you?
To Will Palmer, Guy Bloom is more than the elderly, senile neighbor he looks after-he's the last connection to Jocelyn, the woman Will loved and lost. But the reunion with Jocelyn doesn't go smoothly. Shocked by the change in her father's personality, Jocelyn struggles to reconcile her dark childhood with the sweet, confused man who has grown close to Will. Jocelyn has guided countless clients to happiness-but can she escape the rainy days of her past for a new sunny future with Will?
My Thoughts:
I really enjoyed this book. Jocelyn needs a place to lay low and goes to the last place she ever wanted to go...home. Her three best friends in the world are there to help her overcome it all and believe in her no matter what the stories. Will knows he let the best thing in the world slip through his fingers 15 years ago but he doesn't realize just how much went on.
I enjoyed all the characters. Catching up with the ones from the first book and getting to know Jocelyn better. Her and Will's relationship and past was interesting to read. Her father's story was intriguing and thought provoking. The back story and the new story wove together well and I liked the nice little twists that were worked in!
I rate this a 4/5. It was a good entertaining romatic read.

Shattered Silence by Margaret Daley
Book Description:A serial killer is targeting illegal aliens in southern Texas. Texas Ranger Cody Jackson is paired with a local police officer, Liliana Rodriguez, to investigate the murders.
While the case brings Cody and Liliana ever closer, the tension between Americans and Mexican Americans heightens. Fighting their attraction, Cody and Liliana race to discover who is behind the murders and bring peace to the area. What they uncover isn’t what they expected. Will Cody and Liliana’s faith and love be strong enough to survive the storm of violence?
My Thoughts:
This was a pretty good book! Texas Ranger Cody Jackson has moved away from Houston for two main reasons. To get his son away from his stepfather's influence and to solve the attack on his mentor. While in Durango, he is partnered with Liliana Rodriguez and they investigate a series of murders. The whole time, tensions are rising, bodies are piling up and the two of them work hard to figure out exactly what is going on.
This book tackled some hard topics head on and I think the author did a good job with all of them. Faith was woven well into the storyline. Bullying was dealt with. Racism handled quite well. The characters were written well, as was the storyline. I enjoyed watching Cody and Kyle's relationship heal and Cody and Liliana's relationship develop.
I rate this a 4/5. Though it was the second in the series is stands alone quite well.

Dangerous Embrace by Dana Mason
Book Description:Sarah Jennings wants nothing more than a quiet life—alone.
Raised by an eccentric mother, their life on the road only taught her how to run away from hard times. But when she finds herself in an abusive relationship, this lesson serves her well.
Now, back in her hometown, she's found a place she loves. She’s a first grade teacher, and with few friends and less family around, she has what she wants, a quiet life under the radar where she can be free of her past and live quietly. Finally comfortable in her own skin, she’s settled, and less fearful than she’s ever been in her life.
But it only takes one night and one act of violence for everything to change. Injured and afraid, Sarah wants to run again, but Mark Summors refuses to let her go.
Just when Sarah thinks she can have Mark and the life he promises, her past comes back to haunt her.
Mark Summors was born and raised in Santa Rosa. He married his high school sweetheart and never questioned his life, until he found his wife with another man.
Now divorced, he wants something more. He’s passionate about his job, he wants to protect people, and he devotes his life to it.
This time he’s protecting more than just another client, he’s protecting his future; at least, Sarah Jennings will be his future, once he convinces her she loves him.
My Thoughts:
This was a captivating book. Sarah's life is a living nightmare at the moment and she has decided to flee from the person stalking her. Mark is determined to protect Sarah and keep her safe no matter what. Sarah has issues from her past that make it hard and maybe impossible to trust a man, no matter how good his intentions. Mark has his own past but both of them have to look beyond their issues if Sarah is going to survive.
The author does a great job with her characters. They are believable and not perfect...they have their issues to work through that are legitimate. You feel Sarah's terror and lingering fear as she is feeling them, and you also feel Mark's determination to keep her safe. The suspense is well written and the romance believable and not over the top. It is well suited for the circumstances the characters are in. Overall, great book.
I rate this a 5/5. Good suspense and I look forward to another good book from this author.

Twice Promised by Maggie Brendan
Book Description:Seeing how successful her older sister's "mail order marriage" has been and longing to strike out on her own, Greta Olsen answers an ad for a mail order bride in Central City, Colorado. But when she meets Jess Gifford, owner of a thriving mercantile, she begins to harbor doubts. He didn't place the ad to begin with and his business in a busy mining town leaves him little time or energy for love. To compound her troubles, she was not the only bride to answer the ad! Will either bride strike the match she hopes for?
Filled with amusing and awkward situations that will keep the reader interested and guessing, "Twice Promised "is another sweet romance from Maggie Brendan.
My Thoughts:
This was an entertaining book. Greta has decided to answer the call to be a mail-order-bride. She arrives in Colorado only to find that she isn't the only 'bride' to have shown up AND the man she is to marry isn't who placed the add. Now will Jess, the man in question, want to marry either of them?
I enjoyed the characters the author brought to life in this book. Greta and Cora were different but complimentary of each other. I enjoyed how the history unfolded throughout the story. Jess' character was well written and I liked Zach even if he did start out a bit underhanded. I must say, Granny was my favorite character though!
I rate this a 4/5. It was a good romance.
