Love's Sweet Beginning by Ann Shorey

Love's Sweet Beginning (Sisters at Heart Book #3): A NovelBook Description:
It wasn't Cassie Haddon's fault that she had managed to reach the age of twenty-five without possessing any useful skills. Until the war, she had always had servants to wait on her. Since then, she and her widowed mother had moved from place to place, relying on family to care for them. Now she's forced to find work to support them both. What isn't in her plans is falling for Jacob West, a local restaurateur and grocer. She needs a job and he needs help. But what they both need is love.

With her signature sweet romance, Ann Shorey weaves a tale of two people from very different backgrounds finding common ground and the hopes of a bright future together.

My Thoughts:
This was a good book.  Cassie has been raised to be a lady.  She will marry and that will be the end of that, so why would she need any skills?  Because life has a way of NOT turning out how we plan.  Cassie and her widowed mother are searching for a relative and Cassie is determined to find a job to support both she and her mother.  She doesn't like relying on friends and family for everything.  Jacob West needs help and no matter how many times Cassie messes up, she struggles on.
I really liked Cassie.  She was born and raised to be a lady without any skill set, but she did what she needed to for her and her mother.  Her mother, I was not overly fond of.  She had the mindset of you are 'lowering' yourself by working and I'm glad Cassie had the backbone to continue!  Jacob and Cassie didn't seem to the outside world like a good match but as they say opposites attract.  This book is the third in the series so we get to see some characters from past books and catch up with them, which is always great for me!
I rate this a 4/5.  It goes well with the rest of the series.
Thank you to the publisher for the review copy of this book.  I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

  3. That is very true, I must admit. Life does have a way of not turning out how we plan.

  4. I have a really hard time getting into romance novels. I would try it, but if a book doesn't grab me in the first chapter, I won't continue reading.

  5. You are so right, life has a way of NOT turning out the way we planned. I think all women should have a backup plan ... just in case plan A doesn't work out.

  21. This is a good story and like the Cassie character too. Perhaps her mom is afraid of exposing how little she knows and that might be part of why she abhors the idea of working.

  24. Life definitely can be a trickster & not go along with our plans! This sounds similar to an old movie I saw once although the plot is different and this character definitely has to overcome some things & grow a bit. I'd like to give this book a try, I'm interested to see how she deals with her new life!
