My Thoughts:
I am so in love with this series and this is a wonderful addition! Rachel is the psychologist of the family and everyone leans on her, especially the children she loves to help. She is helping with the clean up and recovery from a flood when life starts getting really interesting. Cole is the fire chief and friend of the O'Malley family. Cole and Rachel have been getting close for a while now, but the disasters they face will test their friendship and see if it can be more. Rachel and her sisters are having some much needed and deserved bonding time when they get caught in the middle of a school shooting!
I love Rachel's soft spirit and comforting nature. She is the 'soul' of the family and doesn't stop to think of herself when she is helping others, they get her complete focus. Cole is a rock. He is strong, stable, not to mention a strong Christian. Rachel leans on his strenth when her's isn't enough to support her and he shows her how a Christian leans on God. It is an emotional roller coaster, but so wonderful. The children in the book are so REAL and the story so sad. The author is great at showing you the emotions her characters are feeling and making you feel them. There are several unexpected twists and suspense! It was a wonderful read that I couldn't put down!!
I rate this book 5/5. It can stand alone but the whole series is worth getting and putting on your 'keeper' shelf.
